Finals update

Finals between Maratha warriors and Chargers started with MW captain Hrishikesh Bhadange winning the toss and deciding to bat first.

Maratha warriors got off to a shaky start, with their first wicket falling in the very first over as a result of a great delivery from Charger's strike baller Sohail. Swapnil and Kumar played well with a 28 run partnership for second wicket before two wickets fell in quick succession. Later on Vishvesh and Kumar came together to help MW with a 53 run partnership, the best of the innings with very good running between the wickets. MW made a final score of 98 all out in their 15 overs. Star of the innings was Kumar scoring 59, Swapnil and Vishvesh played very good supporting role. Sohail and Mahesh took 3 wickets each to wrap up the innings.Captain Bhargava chipped in with two wickets towards the end.

Chargers started their innings with Kaustubh taking a wicket on very first ball and then Manish taking second in the next over. They were struggling at 6/2 after two overs.Captain Bhargav and Sohail were playing really well to guide chargers towards the victory, but Sohail fell in 8th over. Bhargav played a captain’s knock of 53 with his classic style and wonderful stroke play, Krishna Chaitanya tried well to support him at the end,but wickets kept falling in succession and Chargers innings ended with 91/8 in 15 overs with some good bowling from MW. Manish took 3 wickets, with a great delivery to take skipper Bhargav's wicket which turned the match.Kaustubh and Dhananjay took one each and MW managed to get 3 run outs with some good work in the field.

We are thankful to umpires Kamal and Raghvendra (Raghu) for their wonderful job today. Raghvendra did umpiring on saturday back to back for two matches along with Ashwin Kumar, ISA is grateful to all the umpires, scorers and supporters throughout the series.

Final scores
Maratha Warriors 98/10 in 15 over

cricket league - day 7 part 2

Match between Maratha Warriors ( MW) and Ball Kickers (BK)

Toss: Won by Maratha Warriors and elected to bat first

Maratha warriors managed to score 111 from 15 overs with the help of some good batting from captain Hrishikesh Bhadange.

Chasing 112 from 15 overs was newer going to be easy for Ball Kickers especially when kaustubh took wicket of Wasala in his first over. But, after that there was partnership of 19 runs between Ramakrishna and Hasith. This partnership was brought to end by Rohit Pillay in his first over ( Fourth over in this inning) . This match was slipping away from MW hands during the course of third wicket partnership of 43 runs between Rama Krishna and Sri. But, Manish striked back with the wicket of Sri in his second over ( and 10th over of this inning). There was 22 runs partnership between Rmakrishna and Rahul. Ramakrishna was runout due to excellent fielding by Maratha Warriors.Rama Krishna had played a captain's knock of 49 runs from 35 balls. When Rama krishna was out , Ball Kickers were at 91/4 in 10.5 overs. Ball Kickers required another 21 runs from 25 balls with 6 wickets in hand. But, due to some excellent balling by MW, this runs were not scored. In 12th over, Hrishikesh Mate took the wicket of Rahul and Ruchika was runout. It was followed by excellent over (by Manish) in which he bagged 3 wickets. Hrishikesh Mate ended Ball kickers inning in 14th over by taking last wicket.

We are thankful to Ashvin and Raghvendra for their wonderful job of umpiring in back to back matches today.

Final Scores:
Maratha Warriors : 111 ( 15 overs)
Ball Kickers : 98/10 ( 13.2 overs)

cricket day 7

Today s match was do or die for both the teams. The winner will go to finals tomorrow. Before the start of the match there was a big set back for the chargers as one of their key bowlers Krishna got injured before the start of the match. Chargers won the toss and elected to bat first. As expected the chargers got off to a flyer. openers put on a 90 run stand. At the end of the 8 th over chargers were going great guns at 65 for no loss. Rahul reached his 50 in 11th over. It was a great innings by rahul full of flair and aggression, his partner mahesh also provided him with a great stand. Rahul got out soon after reaching his 50, he was run out. now it was mahesh s turn to press on the accelerator pedal. mahesh got out after playing a fine innings of 48 runs he was also run out. Today veerans were found to be lethargic in the field they dropped nearly 8 catches. The veerans were set a target of 136 in 15 overs highest score uptill now in the league.

Veerans got off too a decent start but bojja took a great catch to dismiss veerans captain Mukund in the 3rd over. Now it was turn of satish to give it back to chargers he started scoring at a brisk pace he reached his half century in 8th over. At the end of 8th over veerans were 64 for 1. There was a good stand between balaji and satish. At one point of time it looked as if satish and balaji will spoil the chagers party but again bojja got into action , a direct hit from square leg caught balaji short of his crease and he was back in the pavillion. Satish continued with his aggressive batting but man of the match mahesh got him caught behind by chargers captain bhargava. Satish scored 65 runs. Once satish got out chasing a mammoth total of 136 became hard for veerans to over power. Chargers won the match comprehensively by 25 runs, but they have to work on there fielding, like veerans they also dropped 4 catches in the field. Man of the match mahesh scored 48 runs and took 3 wickets.

Chargers will meet Maratha warriors tomorrow at 4.30 pm . I request every one including new students, to come and support their teams. Tomorrow is a new day and surely we have an exciting contest on cards between 2 great teams. Also tomorrow there is a surprise before start of the match.

cricket league - day 3

Day 3 started with Kamikaze Express Vs Ball Kickers. Both the team captains Ashwin and RamaKrishanan were looking prepared. Even the wind today was feeling cricket, perhaps thats why the sun too was hiding behind clouds making the weather jus right for the game. Ball Kickers batted first and managed to make 63 runs. I got a chance to converse with Dev in the afternoon. "Kamal bowled really well today.....even Mutthapa was great.." Dev quoted
In Kamikaze express Kamal and Vikas put up a good partnership which was supported by some good batting by Ashwin and his express team....Bari and vishvesh kept the scores.....kamikaze express outbatted and outbowled ball kickers!!
in the 13th over the express reached its destination with 6 wickets....clawing their way into the league...
Match 2 was played between Chargers (Bhargav) Vs Maratha Warrior (Hrishikesh Bhadange)
this match was simply terrific. Both the teams had seasoned players on their side.
i got hold of ashwin dhanashri during the match. He is an excellent player and a great personal friend too..... always has some wisdom to share.
When i asked him about the match Chargers were batting and had scored about 45 runs.... "we wil surely put up a tough fight...the match would be exciting"....

i caught up with vishvesh later..those who are not aware..he is also an ISA committee member....and heard him saying "aisa nahi, aisa nahi"...god knows what he meant....but maratha warriors seemed really please with the score Chargers put up...some were shouting "bend the body ,bend the ball"........ they were trying to make up some new slogan for their team... i guess....

Bari, Chetan and Abhay were the scorers for the match..team ISA is thankful to all of them.....Abhay and Pillay were seen sporting ISA spirit wearing ISA T-Shirts....Match was won by maratha warriors...
I dont have the detailed stats with me since i had to leave for the independence day video clip which i am making with praveen and hegde....(will update them with the tomorrow's blogpost)....
tomorrows match Ball Kickers Vs Madras Veerans........ time 4:30pm....

cricket league - Day 2

Day 2 saw a clash between Maratha Warrior (Captian : Bhadange) and Madras Veerans (captain:Mukund )

the dew factor was an important variable in todays match which made us wait till 9am for the match to start. "It makes the ball heavy since it tends to get wet coz of the dew" said Hrishikesh "It creates porblems for both the teams hence it is better to wait for the dew to settle down".

Maratha Warriors got to bat first and exceeded their yesterdays score by 7 runs giving a target of 108 in 15 overs. the team captian chiped in 36 runs which proved a major contribution. Madras Veerans managed to keep the score low upto the first 9 overs giving just 40 runs. The last overs saw a terrific 60 runs in 30 balls.
Madras Veerans could score 91 in 15 overs with 45 runs coming in the last 5 overs. Muknd played a captians knock of 31 runs. Bowling and fielding were truly phoneomenal to watch.

Umpires Venu and Sohail did a great job yet again.

Congratulations to both the teams for their perfromance!!. It was an evidence of their own excellent capabilites and motivation.

Maratha Warriors batted first and managed to score a whooping 101 runs in 15 overs. Kamikaze express put up a tough fight but were caught in trouble as they lost couple of wickets quickly in the beginning. They put up a tough fight though one of their players got injured.
